Micro-credential - Domestic Violence and Child Protection: Training for Child Protection & Welfare Practitioners
This Micro-Credential is a collaborative project between Trinity College Dublin and Mason, Hayes and Curran LLP.
This micro-credential will be offered to a wide range of health, social care and policing professionals working in the area of child protection and welfare. Also relevant to other professionals, advocates and activists engaged in child
protection and welfare, or aspiring to work in these areas.
This micro-credential offers an opportunity to engage with the evidence base on domestic violence and abuse through relevant case materials with reference to the current Irish Legal Framework and its implications for children and families.
On successful completion of this micro-credential, learners will be able to:
• Evaluate and synthesise, what it is like to be a child and live with domestic violence and abuse and the impact on
parenting, both mothering and fathering.
• Understanding the research evidence on post-separation contact and the implications for best practice interventions.
• Demonstrate an ability to apply the legal framework for responding to domestic violence and abuse within child
protection and welfare work.
• Demonstrate the ability to articulate and integrate an understanding of new Child Protection Legislation in their
day-to-day practice with children and families living with domestic violence and abuse.
HCI Pillar 3 Learner Fee Subsidy: Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria may qualify for a 50% fee subsidy, subject to the availability of subsidized places.

Course Time | This micro-credential will be fully online, delivered asynchronously with the exception of two full-day sessions (6 hours x 2). The module consists of six work packages, released on a weekly basis to participants, one a week for six weeks, with an additional four weeks allowed for participants to complete all assessed component parts. |
