Special Purpose Awards or Certificate are qualifications that have been designed for specific areas of learning (usually ones with a narrow scope). Every special purpose award is comprised of components, meaning that their credit value is higher than that of a minor award yet lower than a major award. These qualifications allow learners to build up units of learning at their own pace to meet their own needs. Supplemental awards are for learning which is added to a previous award. Special-purpose awards are made for very specific types of training.
