Post Graduate Courses That Award: Leaving Certificate
As most students from Ireland can tell you, the Leaving Certificate Examination is the final test in the Irish secondary school system. The programme takes a minimum of two years study, yet there is an optional ‘Transition Year’, which means that for students that choose to take this, their Leaving exam will happen three years after their Junior Certificate Examination. These final two years are referred to locally as “The Senior Cycle.” Most students taking the Leaving Cert are aged 17–20. The examination process and corrections are managed by the State Examinations Commission. The Leaving Certificate Exams are taken annually by around 55,000 students across Ireland. This curriculum is at Levels 4 and 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications.
