The Queen’s Postdoc Showcase is a must attend for all QUB postdocs! In 2019, the Postdoc Showcase returns as part of the international strand of National Postdoc Appreciation Week and focuses on wider public engagement with research.
Queen’s Postdoc Showcase
The Showcase will bring together postdocs at Queen’s with a range of external stakeholders from public, private and voluntary sectors to develop shared understanding of the research taking place at Queen’s and how postdocs can help address the needs of wider society. The programme will involve quick pitches from postdocs at Queen’s, a poster exhibition to enable postdocs to discuss their research with external stakeholders, keynote talks by experts in research communication and a range of networking opportunities.
Postdocs at Queen’s can participate by:
- entering the research pitch competition (3-5 minutes presentations targeted to a non-specialist audience)
- contributing to the poster exhibition, using a template specially designed to trigger discussions with non-specialists (alone or as a group of postdocs working on related topics)
- providing a short outlay of their research subject to feature in the showcase booklet (giving the opportunity to be contacted in the future)
- attend the event and network with colleagues and stakeholders
All postdocs at Queen’s are encouraged to attend and engage with the event to get a better insight of how to communicate their research, engage with multiple external stakeholders and learn more about the research carried out by other postdocs in the 3 Faculties of the University.
Note: a course on communicating research with non-specialist audiences is being organised on the 3rd of September and postdocs involved with the showcase will get priority to attend. You can already register on the course’s page (here)
