NUI has announced details of the first NUI symposium on Foreign Language Learning, taking place in University College Cork (UCC) on Friday 30th November 2018.
Background
The government published Ireland’s first foreign language learning strategy in December 2017. LANGUAGES CONNECT: Ireland’s strategy for foreign languages in education 2017-2026, has been welcomed by language schools, departments and centres across Ireland higher education institutions.
The strategy is available to download here.
One year on, implementation of the strategy’s goals and actions is underway and there are both opportunities and challenges for higher education institutions. This symposium will explore and address some of the key issues arising. Led by the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at UCC, the (foreign) language schools and departments across the four constituent universities of the NUI have developed a varied programme of speakers and discussants.
Full programme details are available here.
