LauraLynn is inviting applications from qualified candidates for a PhD/MD Scholarship in Children’s Palliative Care.
LauraLynn’s mission is to provide a Community of Care that delivers evidence-based, personalised services to children with palliative care needs, complex care needs and complex disabilities, while also providing family support services and a home to our residents where quality-of-life is paramount.
The McKenna Scholarship is aimed at supporting the expansion of the knowledge base in children’s palliative care and marks a major development in LauraLynn’s research strategy.
About the Scholarship
The McKenna Scholarship is a one-off scholarship in recognition of the 10 year anniversary of the opening of LauraLynn Children’s Hospice. The aim of the McKenna Scholarship is to support a suitably qualified MD or PhD candidate to pursue full-time research in the area of Children’s Palliative Care.
The scholarship will provide funding for a student undertaking a postgraduate degree (MD or PhD) in the area of children’s palliative care. Funding will include an annual tax free stipend of €18,500, a contribution to fees of €6,000 per annum and €2,000 per year to fund research-related expenses.
The scholar would be affiliated to an eligible Higher Education Institution (HEI) in the Republic of Ireland or research-performing organisation and the project would be supervised by an academic supervisor within the HEI. The academic supervisor would be identified in advance of applying for the scholarship.
