Are you a law graduate and have a high level of Irish? The EU has just launched a new competition for Irish-language lawyer-linguists.
The EU is looking for highly qualified Bulgarian, Czech, French, Irish, Hungarian and Polish language lawyer-linguists. Recruited officials (grade AD 7) will work mainly at the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission.
As a lawyer-linguist, you will revise EU legal texts in the language of the competition from at least two other languages and provide advice on legislative drafting. Your main tasks will be to follow the legislative procedures throughout the process and act as advisers, checking the quality of drafting and compliance with the formal rules on the presentation of legislative texts. The work of a lawyer-linguist involves the use of standard IT and other office-technology tools and frequent contacts with the various participants in the legislative procedure.

Do you have what it takes?
If you are an EU citizen with excellent knowledge of at least 3 EU languages: perfect knowledge of Language 1 (language of the competition), thorough knowledge of English (Language 2) and thorough knowledge of Language 3 (one of the 24 official EU languages-different from Language 1 and Language 2) then you are the one we are looking for.
Additionally, you should have completed university studies in Bulgarian, Czech, French/Belgian/Luxembourgish, Hungarian or Polish law. If you apply for the Irish language profile, you must have a degree in law awarded in Ireland or the United Kingdom.
